Reusable menstrual products always get the "I'll never use that!" reaction, but once you've tried them, you'll wonder why you didn't switch earlier.  Cloth pads are so soft, so breathable, and more leakproof than paper pads.  The Diva Cup is the perfect, chemical-free alternative to tampons.
